Armed and Dangerous, or just Dangerous?

For those living in the greater D.C. area, you know that a debate has been taking place lately, mostly unheard of due to immigration and Iraq, over whether or not to repeal the ban on hand guns in the Capitol City. Both sides have strong arguments, with gun control proponents saying they don't want to see an influx of crime related violence, and coming from a city that twice elected a crack smoker, I can't say I blame them. Pro gun advocates argue that criminals are just that, criminals, and thus will inherently break the law and find a way to get their hands on weapons. And then there's the third group, which I will not associate with gun control proponents, the outside liberal groups which would just like to see an overall abolition of most gun ownership in America. Typically aligned with the ideas of MoveOn.org and HuffingtonPost.com, these individuals hold themselves to a higher and more understanding plane of existence, and often argue "If the United States has nu...

Cedar Revolution to Cedar Retribution

America as a country has always rooted for the little guy. Its in our blood. The very foundation of our history is shrouded in the idea that an underdog, a darkhorse can not only win, but win against all odds. For this very reason, we should all be cheering on the little engine in the Middle East thats trying its heart out right now, Lebanon. In less than a full calendar year, Lebanon has been completely wracked by war. Starting with the Cedar Revolution in 2005, then what the Economist dubbed "The Accidental War" last year, in which Lebanon sustained 34 days of Israeli bombardment, and now an all out ground offensive against the Al Qaeda linked group Al-Fatah Islam in its own borders, this struggling democracy is putting up a tenacious fight against terrorists, adding its name to our list of allies in the War on Terror, which I believe is a euphemism for "War on Islamic Fascism." Lets look at the past 2 years of Lebanon's history. After its immensely pop...

Carte Blanche Carter

I know many of you all out there have found me to be thus far someone who can be quite loquacious at times, haha a bit chatty if you will, but often times there are issues that are so infuriating I do find myself at a loss for words. Sadly, ex-President Jimmy Carter contains many of these qualities which result in my speechlessness. Former President Jimmy Carter, ever the post term opportunist, has once again crossed the border between mediocrity (which should be considered praise) and into absurdity. Former President Jimmy Carter recently expressed to an Arkansas newspaper that the Bush Administration is the worst in history for its effects on world politics and international relations, namely the war in Iraq. President Bush, who exhibited class in the midst of this unprecedented mud slinging, wrote off Carter's comments, and allowed members of his press staff to lament that President Carter has become "increasingly irrelevant." Now Dubya, as well intentioned as he may b...

Happy Link Day

Sorry all you loyal readers, but I'm tuning into the 2nd Republican Presidential debate, so no blogging tonight. However, you can all rest assured that I haven't forgotten how much you like checking in to your favorite blog for thought, entertainment, and provocation, so here are three links to articles I think will fulfill all those qualities. Michael Moore recently challenged Fred Thompson to a Television debate. Here's what Fred had to say...... http://www.breitbart.tv/?p=611 The Democrats in Congress approval ratings are just crushing President Bush's, right? http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/politics/4796730.html And lastly since I just burned the rice by blogging and cooking, therefore keeping my loyalty to you all out there in blogoland, we have this. Ladies, I know you want to break through that glass ceiling, and I know a lot of you are kicking ass, but these types of girls are really holding your cause back. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18523764/

Dems Deploy Daffy Diversions

Before I begin I need to offer a warning to all you bloggers out there in cyberspace. Do not sign out of gmail while you are scripting your blog on this site, if you happen to do so and hit publish, it will send you to the input page that says "please sign in" and your writing will be erased. This entry was actually completed around 11 a.m. but was definitely gone after a little click of the button so, a word of caution to all of you in blogland. Well after a nice little break it looks like we're back at it again. Katherine Sebelius, the Governor of Kansas has been in the news recently for being able to link the destruction in Greensburg to the Iraq War....interesting. Sebelius announced after surveying the damage done to that town (which indeed was devastating) that she did not have an adequate amount of National Guard troops or equipment because of overextension due to the ongoing conflict in Iraq. The White House defended itself (for once), and said that it had held le...

Celebreciprocity

So this Tuesday, I figured what the hell, lets try something different for a change. After a while, politics gets boring even for me, so I figured, lets take a break today from the ordinary and analyze some other headline makers in this country, haha whether they are actually news worthy or not is for another time. Now I know I mentioned that leftist Hollywood actors and actresses would be scrutinized for their politics, but as far as today is concerned, lets stick to shenanigans only. There's almost always a steady stream of celebrity gossip/news coming out of the media, but there have been a recent few that have upped the ante so to speak. That said, not all stories featured will be negative, after all, celebrities occasionally can strike a good note. Before we begin however, I should make clear that just like any other story, it'd be best if we steared clear of too much schadenfreude. While many of these characters haven't always been the best citizens, and yeah, m...

Are you a Republican, or a Republican't?

So before I begin writing about the first Republican debate, I need to apologize for not writing as promptly as possible, but the combination of Derby Day and Fight Night extended my leave of absence (more on that later). That said, let us begin. First of all, the debate was little more than a collection of sound bites, mostly because there were 10 men on the stage and its usually hard to have an honest open debate between two politicians, let alone 5 times that many. Regardless, there were those that stood out, and those that stood out for less than positive reasons, and those whose identity we were left pondering. We'll break them into 3 categories: A) You've got a shot, B) Good try but, and C) You just wore makeup for no reason. All are middle aged white men with families (don't look so shocked). Lets start with the A list folks. Mitt Romney out of the 10 was far and away the most composed. He never really stuttered, his thoughts were collected, and most of his ide...

"Dou" Lobbs

Ok, so I got my two cents in on Harry and Henry, two members who have been recently promoting the Kriplekistani cause, and I hope you all enjoyed reading. Today is a special day as well, and not just because I spent what was supposed to be my day off helping a co-worker move from one apartment to another. Today is special because I get to finally tee off on one of the biggest, drum roll please.......curmudgeons to grace the TV screen. Our self proclaimed "populist", the ever uninspiring Lou Dobbs. All across the nation today on this first day of May, which is for many people across the planet is the unofficial labor day, many illegal immigrants, virtually all of which are Mexican, rallied in support of attaining legal citizenship in the United States of America. These illegals perform a variety of necessary duties. From mowing golf courses, to working in kitchens, and other service area jobs, many of these people have been in the United States for years, many for more t...
